The Beer Store campaign aids North Hastings Hospital

This month, customers to The Beer Store can use proceeds from their “empties” to fill the needs of a local charity or good cause.

At the Bancroft store, donations are being accepted to support the purchase of equipment at North Hastings Hospital.

The Beer Store’s Melissa Newton explains how it works.

“You just need to bring your empties to The Beer Store and we do the rest,” she says. “All the proceeds go to the hospital. For your large bottles, anything over 630 ml is 20 cents and anything under is 10 cents. All cans are 10 cents.”

Newton explains it’s an option for customers; they can still pocket their reembursments from returning cans and bottles if they wish.

Beer Stores across the province participate in Community Donation Drive during springs and summer. Over the years, it has raised $2.38 million for a number of hospitals and food banks.
