Poutine Feast offers different takes on famous Canadian dish

Get your napkins and loose pants ready; it’s almost time for a “Feast.”

The travelling food festival known as Poutine Feast debuts in Bancroft on Thursday. It gets underway at 11 a.m. each day at Millennium Park through Sunday.

The festival’s emcee, Dave Conway, says four poutine trucks will be in the park and, between them, they’ll be offering more than 50 food options.

He says the iconic Canadian dish, which typically evolves fries, cheese and gravy, has evolved.

“We have a really wide variety,” he says. “We have everything from a shawarma poutine to a butter chicken poutine. We have Philly cheesesteak poutine. If you name a part of the world, we probably have a poutine that originated from that part of the world.”

There will also be music and kids’ games in the park through the weekend.
