The United Way Hastings & Prince Edward will launch its fall fundraising campaign on Thursday, Sept. 14.
A launch breakfast takes place at 8 a.m. at Zwick’s Island Park in Belleville. There, campaign workers will unveil the fundraising goal, in support of dozens of social agencies and programs.
That includes North Hasting agencies such as Bancroft Community Family Health Team, Community Care North Hastings, North Hastings Children’s Services, North Hastings Community Cupboard and North Hastings Community Trust.
United Way Executive Director Brandi Hodge says the need for donations has increased in the post-pandemic era.
“We’re seeing different needs,” she says. “We’re seeing increased and amplified needs. Where there was homelessness before, it’s worse now. Where there was food insecurity, it’s worse now. So we’re seeing a whole group of people needing supports, who never needed support in the past.”
Following the campaign launch, there will be several public fundraising events until the end date of January 31.
