This town will be full of hockey families on Saturday; the Bancroft Jets are hosting two Mineral Capital Cup tournaments.
There’s an Under-11 tournament and an Under-13. Action will take place at the North Hastings Community Centre from 8 a.m. until the early evening.
Jets Under-11 coach James Forde says he’s hoping local fans will come out and cheer the home teams on.
“It’s great to be hosting a tournament, especially bringing in teams from centres that we don’t normally play, like Haliburton, Barry’s Bay and Prince Edward County,” he says. “To have teams come in; it’s a great measuring stick for our kids to see where they’re at, compared to other centres. And it’s a chance to show off for our home fans as well.”
He says the Jets, as an overall organization, is doing well this year. It has a healthy number of kids on rosters for teams, ranging from the Under-7 division to Under-18.
