En Plein Air Exhibition returns to Annex

The paintings on display at next month’s Annex Gallery will not just be works inspired by the outdoors; they will be works actually created outdoors.

The November show is the third-annual En Plein Air Group Exhibition. It opens on Saturday, Nov. 11 and will remain on display until December 2.

En Plein Air means “in open air” and many of the works were created in the Highlands.

The gallery says “painting outside is very different from painting in a sterile studio. Paint dries much faster or not at all depending on the weather, wind blows easels over, the light is constantly changing, and biting insects are a constant distraction.  All these things affect the outcome of the painting.”

Participating artists include John Christie, Leif Peng, Linda Sorensen, Kathy Haycock,  Harvey Walker, Manuela Schmidlechner, Keith Thirgood and Jacqueline Morin.

The Annex is the gallery inside the A PLACE for the ARTS building at 23 Bridge St. W. in Bancroft.
