The company that runs Bancroft’s Village Playhouse has announced its lineup for 2024.
Tweed & Company will stage Dear Rita, a tribute to Cape Breton musical icon Rita MacNeil, June 12 to 16. Then, the classic Anne of Green Gables runs July 17 to 28.
Music fans can see Broadway-hit Million Dollar Quartet from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1.
A Night at the Grand Ghoul Opry plays for the Halloween season, from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3. And the classic A Christmas Carol will play from Dec. 11 to 21.
The theatre will also have several individual shows throughout the year.
Artistic Director Tim Porter says 2024 will be the company’s “biggest season yet” and it’s because of the company’s decision to get a range of different shows.
“A big part of our success has been the variety of programming,” he says. “That’s one of the things we’re doing well and differently. We don’t expect the same loyal audience to come and see everything we do. We’re programming shows that are appealing to a wide-reaching audience. And we’re seeing different people come to the building for every production.”
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 21. You can call the box office at 613-478-6060.
Tweed & Company is a registered charity, which also runs productions in Tweed. It is dedicated to enriching culture in Hastings County.
