Loyalist College awarded grant to help build healthy communities

Loyalist College has been awarded a grant intended to help it mitigate poverty and improve health in its communities.

The College received a roughly $2.1 million Mobile grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

The funding will be distributed over five years to establish Loyalist’s Centre for Healthy Communities (CFHC), a new applied research centre focused on tackling problems in health care, social services and community well-being.

College President Mark Kirkpatrick says the centre will be like a centre “without walls” that will support nonprofits and community service groups do many things.
