Expired plates lead to drug trafficking charge for Bancroft resident

Northumberland OPP has charged a resident from Bancroft and another from Tweed with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The OPP were on patrol in Cramaha County on Saturday morning when they received an automated license plate recognition alert about a vehicle with expired plates.

After talking to the driver, police performed a suspended driver’s investigation which resulted in the seizure of 20 grams of cocaine with a street value of about $2000.

Both parties are scheduled to appear in court in Coburg at a later date.
