Limerick Lake residents are concerned for safety after a giant crack has appeared across the ice seemingly overnight.
Many longtime residents have said they have never seen anything like it.
Tristan of Limerick Lake Lodge and Marina described it saying it stretches across the entire lake:
“It’s about an 8 foot wide trench, about four feet deep and at the bottom of the four foot trench its completely wide open. On the one side of it the ice is lifted up, so there’s about two to three foot wall of ice along the one side” he said.
Tristan confirmed that fully open water is in the centre of the trench.
He also noted it would be a great danger to motorized vehicles not expecting the ice shelf.
Residents on social media commented that they have never seen anything like it in over forty years on the lake.
