Renfrew decides against health unit merger, possible Hastings Prince Edward merger still on the table

There will be no health unit merger for Renfrew district health unit.

On March 19th it was announced that they would not seek provincial funding to merge with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health unit.

North Bay Parry sound voted in favour of the merger but, according to a RDHU press release, “proposing a potential merger to the Ministry of Health requires Board of Health agreement from both merging health units; as such, a voluntary merger proposal will not be submitted to the Ministry of Health and further exploration of voluntary mergers will end”

In Hastings and Prince Edward a voluntary health merger unit has also been explored.

The feasibility of merging with Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Public Health and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health is still being looked at.

Those units who wish to apply for a voluntary health unit merger must submit their application by April 2nd. More information on the proposed HPEPH merger is expected soon.
