New 5G enabled cell tower proposed west of village of Maynooth

A new Cell tower has been proposed just west of the main intersection of Maynooth, at 51 Hwy 127.

A public consultation notice from Rogers was filed at a March 6th Hastings Highlands council meeting. The tower will be 90 meters high and located with a clear view from the main street of Maynooth. Rogers says the tower is meant to improve cell service for those to the west. 

They also say they believe the tower will require 24 hour lighting. A flashing white light through the day, and continuously through the night a flashing red light at the top of the tower as well as two steady burning red lights at midpoint on the tower. 

According to the notice the tower will be 5G enabled and also accommodate any future to be determined technologies.

Companies putting up cell towers are required to consult with local land use authorities and get concurrence before they are granted federal approval. 

 In this case Hastings Highlands Municipality is the land Use authority. 

According to the Rogers Public Consult notice, people have until March 31st 2024 to contact Rogers with feedback. The notice asks that residents send feedback to:
