A third of commercial vehicles taken off road, impaired driver charged in roadside inspection in Madoc 

A commercial vehicle inspection initiative in Madoc has resulted in nine vehicles being taken out of service and removed from the roads.  

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police, the TIME (Traffic Incident Management Enforcement) team and inspectors from the Ministry of Transportation inspected twenty-four commercial vehicles on May 7.  

In addition to the vehicles being removed from service, officers also arrested one driver for being impaired behind the wheel. 

Nearly two dozen charges were laid for numerous offences, including impaired driving, faulty brakes, violations of the Periodic Mandatory Commercial Vehicle Inspection regulations, electronic log issues and registered weights.
