News Property Crimes down in Bancroft SHARE ON: Steve Scally, staff Wednesday, Mar. 5th, 2014 In the fall of 2012, Bancroft OPP Detachment Commander Staff Sergeant Mark Wolfe in partnership with the Town of Bancroft, and Dr. Hugh Russell implemented Ontario’s Mobilization and Engagement Model of Community Policing to address property crimes in the Town of Bancroft. The program focusses on reducing calls for service and increasing community safety. Property crimes in the Town of Bancroft were identified as occurring at a high rate, so the partnership developed strategies to reduce the crimes and implemented them. As a result, property crimes have been significantly reduced in Bancroft. In the 2011-2012 year, there were 252 property crime offences, now in the current year there have been only 170 offences.
