Returning postal workers face backlog but Santa letters will get through on time

You may find something in your mailbox today, as 55,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers return to their jobs after a month-long strike.

But it will take a month to get Christmas parcels, experts say, due to a backlog in the system.

Canada Post estimates there are 12 million items to be delivered.

We spoke with local post master Debbie who says that there is, however,  some mail that is guaranteed to get through: letters to Santa.

“Everybody should bring in their Santa letters. It’s going to be a priority. So they’ll get there in time. Definitely.”
