News OPP Distracted Driving Campaign SHARE ON: Steve Scally, staff Tuesday, Mar. 11th, 2014 The OPP is conducting a Distracted Driving campaign is underway and runs from now until Friday, March 14th. During that time they will be doing their part to eliminate distracted driving through awareness raising efforts and enforcement of distracted driving laws. Since Saturday, March 08th, OPP officers in the East Region have laid 84 Distracted Driving charges. In 2013, distracted driving fatalities surpassed both impaired and speed related fatalities in fatal motor vehicle collisions investigated by the OPP. You are being reminded that on March 18th the current distracted driving fine of $155 will jump to $280 (this includes the increased $225 fine plus a $50 victim fine surcharge and $5 court cost).
