The Old Hastings Snow Rider’s annual Show and Ride is back after a successful first year.
On Saturday, you can show your vintage sleds at the Snow Riders Clubhouse in L’Amable.
Member Justin Plue says that a lack of retro snowmobiling events in the area led to him organizing the inaugural event.
“I always have to travel at least an hour to go to anything like that and there’s lots of snowmobilers around here, so i thought people might be interested to do something a little closer to home”
Plue says he was surprised to see people coming from across the region to the Bancroft event.
“People even came from further away, up to a couple hours (from here) to come to our ride, so I thought that was pretty cool as well.”
Plue’s interest in vintage snowmobiling was sparked after seeing Canadian snowmobile sensation Larry Enticer, (who adopted the name of the iconic 70’s Yamaha Enticer snowmobile).
“Larry Enticer made me want to get an old sled, he used to ride a little Enticer around and post on social media and stuff and do fun things with it. And then I always liked wrenching (fixing) on old stuff, usually dirt bikes and stuff before snowmobiles.”

The Show and Ride will start at 9 a.m. at the Old Hastings Snowriders clubhouse in L’Amable, with the show happening between 10 a.m. and noon. The snowmobiles will be lined up and people can check them out and vote for the best ones.
The winner of last years Show and Ride was John McCracken with his 1989 Yamaha SRX.
After the awards and lunch guests can take their vintage rides for a spin.

Plue says there are two modern sleds to use for tows if needed.
“It’s pretty common for the old ones to break down. Some of them got fixed on the trail last year and some of them had to be towed back.”

Everyone is welcome at the event to check out the vintage machines.
The Snowriders clubhouse is located on Highway 62, just south of the Dungannon Rec Centre in L’Amable.
