Calling all train buffs: 1922 Caboose is coming loose in Barry’s Bay

Love trains? Now’s your chance to own part of one.

The Township of Madawaska Valley is looking for someone to buy and remove their 1922 Canadian Pacific Caboose.

The caboose is currently located at 20 Mahon St. In Barry’s Bay.

Built in 1922 by Canadian Car & Foundry Company Limited, the township says that the caboose was donated by a private citizen in 2008 and partially restored by dedicated volunteers.

The caboose is being sold as-is, including any contents. It must be removed at the expense of the purchaser from its existing location, with a planned date of removal included in any submission.

To schedule a viewing of the interior, interested buyers should contact the township.

The township says they will be evaluating proposals ‘based on a scoring matrix’, should more than one proposal be received.

Interested parties need to complete a form and email, drop it off, or mail it no later than March 31 at 4 p.m.

Additional documentation is welcome if there is not enough space on the form.
