Making prom ‘unforgettable and accessible’ for area high schoolers

The Prom Project is kicking off this week.

The initiative provides elementary and secondary students with the opportunity to select formal wear, free of charge, to attend their formal and/or graduation ceremonies.

From Feb. 12 until March 14 anyone who wants to donate gently used or new men’s suits, ties, formal dresses, shoes, and accessories can drop them off at North Hastings High School in Bancroft, between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The time when students will be able to ‘shop’ free of charge at the high school will be announced soon.

The Children’s Foundation (TCF) and The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation (HPELF), in partnership with the Quinte Mall, are teaming up to host the annual Prom Project event.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Children’s Foundation”, said Kellie Brace, Executive Director at The Hastings, and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. “We are two charities that support students, and we both strive to help children and youth succeed – working together on the Prom Project only makes sense!”

“This year’s Prom Project is a testament to the power of collaboration and impact we can create together”, says Melanie Cressman, Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation.

The Children’s Foundation funds programs that aim to provide all children and youth in Hastings, Northumberland, and Prince Edward Counties, the social and physical opportunities to ‘explore, learn, play, and thrive’.

The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation works with volunteers, teachers, principals, school staff and donors to provide philanthropic support to benefit students.
