Bancroft monitoring snow pack

Bancroft Council heard a report on the snow conditions in the area. With concern about flooding, after last year’s emergency, the town has been in communication with the MNR, monitoring snow conditions. Bancroft Works Department head Perry Kelly says that this year is different from last year. The snow is about 30 inches deep and is “fluffy” with low water content as there has been much less rain this winter. Also Baptiste and Gaelairey Lakes are at very low levels and able to absorb water. Kelly said that Bancroft is maintaining a “pro-active” approach this year and should be able to give a 48 hour notice if any flooding should be expected. At the moment no flooding is anticipated.
