UPDATE: Schools are open today in North Hastings, buses cancelled

Our school board is letting everyone know that all schools and offices will be open today, as usual, although all buses are cancelled.

“The decision to open is based on less snow accumulation than anticipated and any more coming is expected to end by early afternoon. In addition, no travel advisories or road closures are in effect.”

This decision was made in consultation with Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic DSB and Limestone DSB, which are doing the same.

In Renfrew County all schools are closed today.

Hastings Prince Edward District School board says they are closely monitoring the weather and travel advisories in advance of the winter storm that is forecast for tonight and tomorrow.

It is possible that some or all schools may be closed to students and staff on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The final decision will be made by 6:00 AM tomorrow and will be communicated through email, as well as @HPEschools social media, Tri-Board and local radio stations.

HPEDSB says they understand that ‘this can create an inconvenience for families, so we wanted to share early that school closures may be possible. Watch for further information by 6:00 AM tomorrow.’
