It was a long day yesterday for some Elections Ontario staff as they worked on getting advanced voting stations set up in the region.
Supervisor Lona O’Reilly was at the Hastings Highlands Centre Wednesday evening, working with a small crew to set up the voting station at Emond Hall in Maynooth.
O’Reilly says her day started at 5 a.m when she had to head to Napanee from her home north of Maynooth..
“I had to drive into Napanee, do my training, pick up stuff there for the advanced polls and get more stuff in Bancroft for the advanced polls. And then I made it here for 5 p.m. to set up…. I’m running on a doughnut.” she said laughing.
When asked if they could use more sustenance to get though the long day, deputing returning officer Daniel Anderson chimed in,
“But, running on a doughnut is like the most Canadian thing you could do!”
“As long as it’s a Maple donut.”
In-person advanced voting stations are open 10 a.m. til 8 p.m. until Saturday.
This will be the only chance for people to vote in person until election day on Feb. 27. , unless they drive to the returning office in Napanee.
