Tell us about yourself
Rigby:I have been a hospital physiotherapist for over 40 years specialising in Rehabilitation and work in Kingston at Providence Care Hospital..I have lived in the Riding for over 40 years on a small family farm near Moscow. I have volunteered over the years at the local school, with charitable organizations ,with my church and with my union. Public service, volunteerism and community involvement are key to me.
What do you think is the most important issue for the area and why?
Rigby:Rural and small town municipalities have almost been abandoned by the Provincial government. Rising costs such as OPP and crumbling infrastructure are given band aid solutions or ignored completely. Loans have to be applied for and if granted,paid back with interest. Gone are the days of stable funding of our communities by the Provincial government. Some munipalities/ridings unfairly get more money than others. Small businesses need tax breaks and investment also in our small communities.
Why should someone vote for you?
Rigby: Honesty ,integrity, strong work ethic and strength of resolve are some of the attributes I bring to the table. I will reach out,listen,engage and advocate for the residents of this riding….the whole riding!
I am an activist,with energy and drive and the best interests of the residents of this riding are what motivates me.
Are there any final thoughts on any topic that you would like to share?
Rigby: After 6 years of Doug Ford health care has deteriorated,schools are underfunded,rural and small town Ontario has been neglected,homelessness has increased because of lack of affordable housing and social services for those on the edge.Bonnie Crombie plans to double ODSP payments,lower the middle class income tax rate,eliminate HST on hydro/heating and lower the cost of housing. Liberals will introduce many measures to ensure everyone has a family Dr. and better fund hospitals and schools.
