Seed exchangers, vendors and more will be heading to the Hastings Highlands centre in Maynooth for Seedy Saturday.
Library CEO Wendy Keating says the library will be taking part as well, by opening up their seed library.
“So if you’re here and you’d like some seeds, you can check them out. You don’t have to even have a library card.”
Keating says there are a variety of seeds available as well as a ‘seed game’ people can play to learn how to identify seeds.
“Let’s grow gardens, grow our own food. And at the end of the seasons we ask, if possible, if you grow one of those plants, to collect the seeds. And bring them back to us so that we can share them again next year.”
Keating says there are also books at the library available on seed collecting and growing.
Seedy Saturday is this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Light lunch will be available.
The library will also host a terrarium workshop for kids at 1 p.m.
People should pre-register for the workshop by contacting the library.
