Kim Bishop, Dora Yateman and Tim Porter are recognized for their work and contributions to the community.
The commemorative medal was created to honour King Charles III’s coronation on May 6, 2023 and it aims to recognize Canadians, who have made significant contributions to the country through their community.
MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman gave out the awards at a ceremony earlier this month.
“The selfless dedication you all give to our friends, family, and neighbours does not go unnoticed; you all are the backbone of our community,” she said.
MooseFM caught up with MP Kramp-Neuman and Mary Kavanaugh of the North Hastings Heritage Museum, shortly before the winners were officially announced.
Both spoke highly of the nominees, while Kavanaugh explained the role of the museum in the process.
“The museum nominated Dora Yateman, who is a native elder in the community who does phenomenal work, and is highly unrecognized.” said Kavanaugh.
Bishop chaired the Back the Cat campaign, which saw a CT scanner for the Bancroft Hospital, and Porter of Tweed and Company, which took over the Village Playhouse in 2022 bringing a stellar line-up of shows, events and classes to the area.
Twenty-five people in Hastings Lennox and Addington won the 2024 Coronation Medal.
