Easter market, trucks and a thousand eggs: Eggstravaganza comes to Maynooth

It’s going to be a busy day in Maynooth this Saturday.

The Maynooth Morning Market is presenting its Easter Market from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. with over 40 vendors at Emond Hall in the Hastings Highlands Municipal building.

There will also be lots of activities around town, including an Easter Egg Hunt at the Maynooth Public School at 11 a.m., Touch a Truck from 10 a.m. until noon and Easter crafts at the library from noon until 2 p.m..

MooseFM caught up with Hastings Highlands events co-ordinator Amy Doole at the library where our youth correspondent asked some questions about the festivities.

His first question?

YC“Will the Easter Bunny be warm enough?”

Doole: “I sure hope so. The Easter Bunny comes with his own fur so that’ll be good. And he does a lot of hopping around which keeps him warm to see all the kids.”

YC“What can kids expect at the Eggstravaganza?”

Doole: Well the Easter Bunny, like we said, will be hopping around. He’ll have been there earlier and hidden over 1000 Easter eggs... So we will have different zones and times for different age groups to hunt for eggs in the schoolyard.. and anyone who’s waiting for their turn will have the chance to touch a fire truck and meet some of our local volunteer firefighters..

YC“Does it look like there are going to be a lot of kids coming?”

Doole: “I hope so. The last few years there’s been between 150 and 200 kids there, so it’ll be a busy day in Maynooth.”

The Easter Eggstravaganza is an annual event sponsored by the Municipality of Hastings Highlands, the library and the fire department.
