A bench dedication ceremony will be held this Sunday in Barry’s Bay to honour the memory of Gerard O’Malley, a well-loved member of the community.
The event is set for 10 a.m. outside the Metro grocery store, where a commemorative bench will be unveiled in his name.
O’Malley, who co-owned the Metro store in Barry’s Bay for decades, is remembered by many for his warmth, generosity and presence in the community.
Organizers say the ceremony is open to everyone, and they encourage residents to come together to celebrate a life that helped shape the spirit of the community in Barry’s Bay.
The bench will remain in place as a public reminder of O’Malley’s contributions and the connections he helped foster.
