The Ministry of Natural Resources conducted an enforcement blitz in the Township of South Algonquin and Hastings County during the second weekend in March. Conservation officers from Minden, Bancroft, Peterborough and Pembroke, along with the canine unit, checked 115 anglers on local lakes. During the blitz, 15 charges and 47 warnings were issued for fishing, Snowmobile and Liquor offences. The MNR reminds anglers it is illegal to use game fish or invasive species as bait. Dumping bait buckets in or near water is also illegal. Consult the Recreational Fishing Regulations Summary at ontario.ca/fishing for baitfish regulations.
