Pop-up planetarium brings ‘the whole cosmos’ to the area this week

Astronomy fans in the area will have two chances this week to experience a travelling planetarium offering a 360-degree ‘journey through the cosmos.’

Astronomy in Action is making stops in Whitney and Barry’s Bay, with the first show scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Martin of Tours School in Whitney.

The The Barry’s Bay session will follow Friday at the Paul J. Yakabuski Community Centre.

The mobile planetarium features a fully immersive dome experience with 4K visuals, guiding audiences through constellations, planets, and galaxies in real time.

Organizers say it’s an accessible and educational opportunity for people of all ages, especially in smaller communities that don’t as often see this kind of travelling science programming.

Residents can book their spots by contacting the Whitney or Barry’s Bay library.
