After years of closure and storm damage, trails at Nellie Lunn Park are set to reopen by July 1, as part of a community-led rehabilitation effort.
The Urbach Lake Trail Reopening Project will restore access to the park’s main trails, including the parking area, access trail and the Urbach Lake Trail, which were closed in 2021 and further damaged during the 2022 derecho windstorm.
The Township of Wollaston has budgeted $5,000 for the project, keeping costs down by relying on volunteer labour and donated materials.
Additional signage and measures will also be installed to address past concerns about trespassing from neighbouring properties.
