2014 Homecoming Hockey Tournament a Success

The 2014 Home Coming Hockey Tournament was held this past weekend and was a huge success.

There were 14 teams divided into two divisions: Closed and Recreation. Competition began Friday evening and when the 24 games ended on Sunday afternoon four champions were declared.

In the “A” Recreation Final, the 1985 Juvenile Jets won a close contest narrowing defeating Stainless Equipment from Toronto by a score of 1 to 0. The winning goal was scored with less than 2 minute remaining in the final period.

In the “B” Recreation Final, The Swamp Donkeys defeated the Maynooth Ranchers 8 to 4.

In the Closed “A” Final the N.H.H.S Huskies Alumni comeback fell just a goal short losing 5 to 4 to Peterborough’s Cherry’s Boys.

In the Closed “B” Final the 2011 Midget Jets and the 2003 Midget Jets traded second period goals but the younger 2011’s prevailed scoring mid-way through the final period to win 2 to 1.
