A community fundraiser will be held this Saturday, June 21, to support the Porteous family after three-year-old Josh Porteous was recently diagnosed with leukemia.
The “Funfair Fundraiser” will take place at Riverside Park in Bancroft from noon until 5 p.m.
Activities include carnival games, a Pop Over Parties Nerf zone, a silent auction, and a 50/50 draw. Organizers say additional entertainment and activities are planned throughout the day.
Josh’s mother, a local early childhood educator, and his father, who is transitioning from night shifts to provide more support during hospital stays, are known in the community for their dedication and kindness.
“This family has given so much, and now it’s our turn to give back,” said one of the event organizers. “Healing works best when you’re surrounded by love and support.”
All proceeds from the event will go toward helping the family with travel, medical, and living expenses during Josh’s treatment.
The fundraiser is open to all, and residents are encouraged to attend and show their support.
