WoodStack Festival fundraiser in Bancroft this Saturday brings the power of good vibes

Local firewood-sharing initiative WoodShare is hosting its first-ever fundraising music festival, WoodStack, Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. at Millennium Park in Bancroft.

Event organizers describe it as a free-spirited musical gathering, celebrating community and ‘the power of good vibes.’

The day aims to celebrate both community spirit and the grassroots mission of WoodShare, which connects people in need of heating with firewood.

Guests are asked to “Get your tie-dye clothing ready” for the all-ages event which features performances from local artists, such as John Foreman and the Salt Cellars.
“Kids are just out of school — what better way to start the summer than a free concert in the park that goes on all day?” said Alex Ibey, a volunteer at WoodShare.

Alex is one of many WoodShare volunteers who collect and distribute firewood. According to Ibey, the group is hoping to get some younger volunteers on board, as the current team is mostly seniors and not all of them are able to lift the heavy wood.

“This festival is a chance to come together, enjoy local talent, and support a great cause,” he added.
