The Opeongo Seniors Centre (19 Stafford St.) will host a vibrant Summer Solstice Wellness Market this Saturday, featuring healers, psychics and Indigenous artisans offering mini wellness services, as well as fun for the whole family.
The event is being facilitated by Tina Zhaabwaabi Kwe — an Anishinaabe seer whose spirit name means “She Sees Through Clearly Woman” — alongside Candice Horton, a Quantum Healing and Hypnosis practitioner with Karuna Wellness.
The pair met at the first Metaphysical Market organized by Zhaabwaabi Kwe in Maynooth in 2024 and have collaborated often since.
Visitors can expect a variety of offerings, including reflexology, massage, energy work, psychic readings, and handcrafted metaphysical and Indigenous goods such as herbal products and spiritual artwork.
This will mark Zhaabwaabi Kwe ’s sixth wellness-and-artisan market — gatherings now known for creating a welcoming bridge between spiritual seekers, Indigenous culture, holistic health and local craftsmanship.
Zhaabwaabi Kwe said she was approached by the Opeongo Centre after organizers learned of her previous markets and gatherings.
“They heard about my events in the Bancroft and Maynooth area and wanted something similar in Barry’s Bay,” she said. “It was wonderful to meet the administrators. I’ve been working with Connie Schweig, and she welcomed us with open arms. I’m really looking forward to working with them through this event.”
Admission is free, and the event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“All are welcome — all spiritualities, all religions,” said Zhaabwaabi Kwe . “We are metaphysical, we are First Nations, and we are open-hearted to everyone.”
