100 Women Who Care selecting new charity to support

Bancroft’s 100 Women Who Care are holding a meeting tomorrow night to vote on a new charity to support.

Committee member Jennifer McGhee said they’ll hear presentations from three charities, and then the women will vote on which charity they’d like to support.

“It’s a community-based organization of women that come together, knowing that there is power in numbers – we call our women our wonder women – and coming together, we nominate different charities around the area, Bancroft and the surrounding area,” McGhee said.

She said many of the charities get nominated by members of 100 Women Who Care, and they must be registered charities that can issue tax receipts to the women.

The three charities presenting tomorrow will be North Hastings Children’s Services, North Hastings High School Scholarship Fund and Youth Diversion.

At each meeting, each member of 100 Women Who Care pledges $100 to give to the winning charity.

This will be the last of their three meetings in 2025.

Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. for anyone attending who is not already a member of 100 Women Who Care. The meeting runs from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Village Playhouse.
