The Ministry of Natural Resources has placed the Bancroft area under a high-level forest fire danger rating.
According to the provincial forest fire information map, Bancroft and Bird’s Creek are rated as high-risk, while an extreme-level rating extends from Centre Hastings all the way up to the Ottawa River. It reaches from Arnprior in the east to Georgian Bay and beyond in the west, extending into parts of northern Ontario.
The map does not currently show any active fires in the area, but there are some active fires in northern Ontario, including near Sudbury and Timmins.
