Local realtor Brad Sinclair running for mayor of Bancroft

Brad Sinclair has announced he’s running for mayor of Bancroft.

The local realtor posted a video to his Facebook page on Thursday, noting he gave it a lot of thought and has the full support of his family.

“We all live here because of what this town offers each and every one of us,” Sinclair said. “What we share in common is we invest in our lives here, we invest in our properties here and we care deeply about where Bancroft is heading.”

Sinclair, turning 52-years-old next week, says transparency and rebuilding partnerships are the foundation of his campaign.

Sinclair said that for a long time it has felt like there is a disconnect between “what happens inside municipal office walls” and what most taxpayers actually know about or get a say in.

Sinclair adds most residents don’t sit through hours of recorded council meetings, but “everything should be out in the open, well-known and easy to understand.”

He would also like to see better communication with neighbouring municipalities.

“At the end of the day, every single person in this town deserves to know what is happening and have their voice heard.”

MyBancroftNow has reached out to mayoral candidate Tracy McGibbon for an interview on several occasions but has not received any response.

Bancroft Mayor Paul Jenkins is not seeking re-election after serving in that capacity for 10 years.

Brent Anderson, George Eastman and Tracy Stephenson are running for council seats in Ward 1 while Valerie Miles, Judy Edgar and Mike Dillabough are seeking Ward 2 council seats, according to the “unofficial” list of candidates released by the Town of Bancroft today.
