Quinte Health Care is announcing changes at its team of four hospitals because of a $11.5 million shortfall for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
Changes include transferring some of Trenton’s surgery services to Belleville and cancelling QHC’s pain clinic. QHC Vice-Chair Doug McGregor says all of its hospitals will stay open, including the one in Bancroft. He says they’ll all have at least diagnostic services, inpatient beds and a 24 hour emergency department.
The proposed plan is based on input from close to 1,000 residents and the Brighton/Quinte West Health Services Advisory Committee. Until the end of the month, QHC is looking for opinions from doctors, staff and communities. This is so that changes can be made to the plan before it goes to the board and union partners in November.
