The Bancroft Fire Department reminds everyone that it’s time to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.
Fire chief Pat Hoover says the fire department reminds people to this once every year.
He says having working batteries in all smoke detectors is part of the law.
Breaking the law can result in a fine up to 50-thousand-dollars.
