OPP Seize Cocaine and Cash

Lying about his identity results in an Ottawa man being charged with a number of offences including drug trafficking. Last Thursday an OPP officer stopped a car traveling west along the 401 near Belleville. The driver, 39 year-old Darren Renaud, presented police with false identification and was arrested for that. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up 608 grams of Cocaine with an estimated street value of over $60,000 and approximately $20,000 in Canadian currency. Renaud is now charged with Obstructing Police, Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Driving while Suspended and Possessing False Identity Document(s). He has a continuation of his bail hearing today (Tuesday, April 22nd).
