OPP Provincial Seatbelt Campaign Underway

Riding in a motor vehicle in Ontario means you must use a seatbelt or in the case of certain children an appropriate child car seat. The driver of the car is responsible for mking certain that all passengers under 16 years of age are buckled up. If they are not, the drive can face a fine of $240 and 2 demerit points. The seat belt must be worn correctly as well; one person per belt, it should be worn across the body and the hips and should not be twisted while in use. The OPP has a provincial seatbelt use campaign underway until October 10th. For more information about seatbelts and child car seats, visit the Ministry of Transportation website.
