Thousands of visitors will be converging into Bancroft this weekend for the 54th annual Rockhound Gemboree.
The annual gem and mineral show kicks off for another year tomorrow, and will feature vendors, tours, and events. Bancroft & District Chamber of Commerce General Manager Greg Webb says the event, which has been named one of the top 100 festivals and events in Ontario, draws over 7,000 visitors each year.
Opening ceremonies for the Gemboree start at 9:30am tomorrow morning at the North Hastings Community Centre, and will feature local mayors and reeves, Hastings County Warden Rodney Cooney, Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith, and Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Mike Bossio.
The Gemboree runs from tomorrow until Sunday at the North Hastings Community Centre and the Bancroft Curling Club.
If you’re heading out to the event, doors at the Bancroft Curling Club open at 9:30am every day, while the North Hastings Community Centre opens at 10:00am. Most days, the event will run until 6:00pm, except for Sunday, when it closes at 5:00pm.
