Veolia awarded Bancroft’s water and sewer contract

It’s official; starting on January 1st, Veolia Water Canada Inc. will be taking on Bancroft’s water and sewer contract.

The announcement was made during a special Bancroft Council meeting held earlier today. The town says, after nearly a year of negotiations, a contract with Veolia has been finalized. The company will take on operating, maintaining, and managing the systems for the next five years. The transition process is currently underway.

Vice President of Veolia’s Operations for Canada Mark Rupke says the company is very pleased to be taking on the contract. He says Veolia has priorities when it comes to operating the systems.

Rupke says the company has no concerns about being ready to start operating the systems by January 1st. Veolia Project Manager for Bancroft Duane Forth says the company has a 322-step transition plan ready to take on Bancroft’s water and sewers.

Rupke says, in the future, Veolia will work to find ways to become more efficient and save the town money. The town says it has already saved more than $300,000 in the contract cost alone.
