Police are reminding you of a few tips if you plan on going on vacation during the winter season.
The OPP says that taking time to think about crime prevention before you leave is crucial. Some tips police are offering to travelers leaving their homes during winter include:
-Not announcing your travel plans on social media
-Arranging someone to check on your home while you’re gone
-Leave your vacation address and phone number with someone in case of emergency
-Using timers for lights
-Make sure all windows and doors are locked
-Leave blinds in normal position
-Ask a neighbour to park in your driveway so it looks like you’re home
-Consider taking valuables to a safety deposit box
