A Bancroft man has to pay a $1,000 fine for hunting a black bear without a licence.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the bear carcass was found in a cooler at a local butcher shop during an enforcement blitz last October.
An investigation determined the man had killed the bear while moose hunting in Algonquin Park. He only bought a licence after killing the animal.
