Bancroft gets complaints about downtown snow removal

The town of Bancroft is getting some complaints that it’s not clearing snowbanks in its downtown core as fast as it used to.

Public Works Manager Perry Kelly says town staff has started clearing the banks as part of normal daytime operations to save overtime costs.

The snowbanks used to be cleared overnight, but Kelly says one night’s work could cost the town thousands of dollars.

Kelly also says safety is a top priority for the town. He says, if there’s a snow storm, staff will continue to be paid overtime to keep roads safe and clear.

Kelly says the town exceeds the minimum standards for winter maintenance.

If you have a concern about Bancroft’s snow removal process, you are being encouraged to contact the town office.
