The North Hastings Economic Development Committee is expected to finalize its Non-Motorized Trails Master Plan this year.
That information was presented by Chair Cathy Trimble during today’s Hastings Highlands Council meeting. The plan is meant to create a connected system of non-motorized trails across North Hastings. Last year, it received a nearly $43,000 Trillium grant.
Trimble says the plan is expected to be finalized in May. She says the implementation phase will begin after that.
The committee will also be working to promote cycling in North Hastings in 2018. Trimble says North Hastings can become a cycling mecca, which would bring more tourists to the area. She says the committee will be hosting a free workshop to help local businesses, municipalities, and libraries become certified as cycle friendly.
