North Hastings Fire Services is reminding you to check your chimney, woodstove, and pipes for creosote.
Because the temperature has been flip-flopping between mild and cold recently, Fire Prevention Officer Matt Musclow says this is the primetime for creosote to build up.
Musclow says you could be at risk if there is too much creosote in your wood-burning appliances.
Musclow says there are a number of licensed professionals in the North Hastings area who can check and clean your chimney, woodstove, and pipes.
Meanwhile, if you’re carbon monoxide alarm goes off, you are being reminded to get out of your home immediately and call 911.
