A former-Bancroft councillor’s seat is expected to officially be declared vacant on Wednesday.
Although Bill Kilpatrick stepped down from the role on Saturday, March 17th, council will officially accept his letter of resignation during a special meeting. Council will then have 60 days to decide what it will do to fill the seat. The town has said a new councillor will likely be appointed because the next municipal election is just a few months away.
Council will also make a decision on the future of the public boat launch on Clark Lake during the meeting. Councillors will consider whether or not to pass a bylaw to block off the boat launch. The town says the bylaw has been put forward to protect the lake, and Bancroft’s water treatment plant, from invasive species.
Residents will be given a chance to weigh-in on the issue during Wednesday’s special council meeting, which starts at 1:00pm at the town office.  To see the full agenda, click here.
