The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit has announced the first two confirmed cases of Flu in the county, and they are in Bancroft. The two persons were seen at the hospital Emergency Department and released. The Health Unit says that the most at-risk people are very young children, those 65 years of age or older, and people with a pre-existing medical conditions. Frequent hand washing and coughing or sneezing into a tissue, washing your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand cleaner, are particularly important during Influenza season. If you are feeling any of the flu-related symptoms, you should avoid others as much as possible, get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids.
