OPP Officer and Auxiliary Officer Injured

One man is facing multiple charges after running done two peace officers. On Sunday afternoon a uniform officer and an Auxiliary of the OPP attempted to stop an ATV near Lake Baptist, in Hastings Highlands, while riding on OPP Motorized Snow Vehicles. The suspect ATV hit an OPP machine, throwing and injuring the Auxiliary OPP officer. The suspect then fled the scene. The uniform officer pursued the suspect ATV, trying to stop it, and during that chase, the ATV driver turned toward the OPP and hit him. The ATV stopped a short time later and the driver was arrested. A 25 year-old Cardiff man was arrested and held for a hearing. He is charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer, Flight from Police Causing Bodily Harm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, over $5000, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, over $5000, Failing to Stop at Scene of an Accident Involving Bodily Harm and Failing to Comply with Recognizance. The OPP officer and the Auxiliary OPP officer were injured during the incident. They were taken to hospital, treated, and released. The investigation is continuing.
